The Passion of the Church: Parallels Between Vatican II and the Passion of Christ
Saturday Mar 02, 2024
Saturday Mar 02, 2024
Just as the entire history of the Catholic Church seems to be chronologically prefigured by the entire history of Israel in the Old Testament (see Kevin Davis' prior interview with Dominic: • Church History Chronologically Prefig... ) so too does it appear that the Gospels share in this same economy of chronological parallel and prefigurement! In this interview with my guest, Dominic, we discuss the prefigurement of Church history by the Gospel accounts, with a strong focus on the events surrounding Vatican II as foreshadowed by the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord in the Gospels. Pay particular attention to the Resurrection of Christ in the Gospels as a figure of our time now, when the Mystical Body of Christ (The Church) shares in the characteristics of Christ's Risen Body. At the end of this podcast there are some bonus topics that could be the focus of future interviews.
